Annotation features can be imported from a CSV file. The first line of the CSV file should be headers as shown below. The second line and lines after it should contain property values of a particular feature, with values separated by semicolons. Of the different Feature Properties available, the following is true in respect to Importing Annotation features:
- Mandatory Values: Name, Type, and Sequence
- Optional Properties: Segment (required for complex feature import), Strand ('forward' or ‘reverse’), Directionality ('forward', ‘reverse’, ‘none’, ‘both’), Starting Position, Ending Position, Translation (supported symbols from the amino-acids table only, no spaces), Product, and Description.
An example of an Annotation Feature CSV file for Import is shown below.
Import Annotation Features to BioDrive, follow the steps listed below:
- Select the sequence tab that the annotations will be added to
- Select Action -> Import -> Annotation Features
- In the newly opened window, either click “Choose file” to select a file to import or drag and drop the import file to the window.
- After annotation features are imported from the file, they are displayed on the scene and are visible in the features panel.
- The feature information can be added to the sequence file by exporting the sequence as a GenBank file.
