There are three ways to split a simple feature into segments.

Method 1: In the feature list on the side panel, find the feature that you want to convert to segments. Click the three vertical dots next to the feature, select “Split to segments” from the dropdown, enter the number of segments you want to divide the feature into, and press “Continue” to confirm.  This will open the segment editing panel. Make necessary changes (refer to Edit Segment below) and Save the changes.

Method 2: In the feature list on the side panel, find the feature that you want to convert to segments. Click the three vertical dots next to the feature and select “Edit” from the dropdown to open the Editing feature window. Press the “Split” button next to “Segments”, enter the number of segments you want to divide the feature into in the pop-up window, and press “Continue” to confirm. This will open the segment editing panel. Make necessary changes (refer to Edit Segment below) and Save the changes.

Method 3: Select the sequence of the feature that you want to convert to segments, then press “Create -> Feature segment” to open the segment editing window. You can add new segments, edit or split or delete existing segments. Press the “Save” button to save your changes.

Note:

  1. The feature is divided into equal parts by default when it is possible.
  2. The first split segment has the same start position as the origin feature, and the last split segment has the same end position as the origin feature.
  3. The length of each translated split segment must be the multiple of 3
  4. Segments on the same strand should not overlap each other
