The Experiment View History function shows experiments' viewing events. By default, the table is arranged by the view date with the most recently viewed at the top. All columns can be sorted and filtered. The experiment view history result can be exported as a CSV report.
The experiments, users & user groups, and collaborators you can see in Experiment View History depend on your account privileges. Regular users can see everything they own and experiments & users they can see. System Administrators can see everything.
- Press “Experiment View History” under the Tools tab on the left navigation bar. The list of the latest viewers of each experiment, experiment type, and owner is shown in the table (see the screenshot below). The total number of experiment views made by the user (viewer) is listed in the last column. Clicking the experiment name, which is a linkable field, will open the experiment in a new browser window.
Experiment View History can be filtered in multiple ways.
- Filter Experiment View History by Group
- Make a single click on the Viewer Group Filter field above the table.
- Choose a specific group by marking/ticking the checkbox next to the group name in the dropdown.
- You can also look for a specific group by typing the first letters of its name into the white field. Put in time order experiment view history, composed of viewers from the Group you selected, will automatically accrue when you click somewhere on the displayed table.
- Filter Experiment View History by Collaborator
- Make a single click on the Collaborator Filter field above the table (next to the Viewer Group Filter)
- Choose a specific collaborator by marking/ticking the checkbox next to the person’s name in the dropdown.
- You can also type the first letters of the first name into the white field.
- Click anywhere on the page and the result table will be filtered to display only experiments with the collaborator you selected.
- Filter Experiment View History by a Time Frame
- Pick the calendar icon in the Start Date field and select the date. Proceed the same with the End Date field (you can also leave it blank).
- After selecting the Start Date, the End Date, or both, the system immediately generates results in the table from the most recent ones to the oldest ones in the defined date range.
- Filter Experiment View History by Viewer
- Select the filter option next to the Viewer’s column with a single click and select the user name in the dropdown by marking the checkbox next to the user’s name.
- You can also type the letters of the first name in the Search field. The system will display all viewers whose name starts with those letters. Put a minimum of 3 characters to narrow down the list.
- Click the “Filter” button to get results or click the “Clear” button to clear your filter.
- Filter Experiment View History by Experiment
- Select the filter option next to the Experiment column with a single click and select the name of the experiment (Notebook Page name in ELN) in a dropdown by marking the checkbox before the experiment’s name.
- You can also search for the experiment by typing specific letters in the Search field. Add a minimum of 3 characters to narrow down the list. The system will display all experiments whose name contains these letters in the dropdown.
- Click the “Filter” to get results or the “Clear” to clear your filter.

- Filter Experiment View History by Experiment Type
- Select the filter option next to the Experiment Type column with a single click and select the experiment type in a dropdown by marking the checkbox before the experiment’s type name.
- You can also search for the experiment type by typing a minimum of 3 characters in the Search field. The system will display all experiment types that contain these letters.
- Click the “Filter” field to get results or the “Clear” field to clear your filter.

- Filter Experiment View History by Owner
- Select the filter option next to the Owner column with a single click and select the owner in a dropdown by marking the checkbox next to the username.
- You can also search for the owner by typing letters in the Search field. Put a minimum of 3 characters to get the results. As an outcome, you will receive the users (owners) whose names contain those letters.
- Then click the “Filter” to get results or the “Clear” field to clear your filter.

- You can add a filter to the Viewer Views column of the Experiment View History table to filter the experiment views results by the number of times the experiment has been viewed.
- Select the filter next to the Viewer Views (the column header), and the system will display a white box with a dropdown and a typing field.
- Select from the dropdown an attribute of Viewer Views number. The available options are: Equal, Greater Than, Greater Than Or Equal, Less Than, Less Than Or Equal, or Not Equal.
- Then, enter the value you are looking for in the field below the dropdown. You can also use the up and down arrow to change the value.
- Press the “Filter” button to get the results or the “Clear” button to delete the filter. The filtered results are displayed by experiments' view date from the newest to the oldest.
Note: For the group, collaborator, and viewer filtering, Admins can see all people. Regular users can only see people that are visible to them. For the experiment, experiment type, and owner filtering Admins also can see all experiments that were created by all people. Regular users can only see the experiments that are visible to them or owned by them.
- All columns can be sorted by clicking the column header. After pressing the column header, results in the table are sorted and there is an arrow pointing up or down next to the column header.
- To generate a CSV report, press the “Export As CSV” field on the left corner, below the Experiment View History table.
