Reindex a Sequence
print icon

BioDrive’s Reindex function can be used to change the position of the origin of your circular sequence or to change the numbering on a linear sequence. Select the sequence you want to change and go to Actions -> Reindex.

To Reindex a Circular Sequence, enter the location you want to shift the origin of the sequence to and click “Apply” to confirm. The numbering of the sequence will start from this new location.

Using the Reindex function with Linear Sequences allows for either the re-numbering of a sequence with respect to a particular location or to reverse the numbering of a sequence.

When using the “Ascending” option from the Indexing order dropdown, enter the new position number of the first nucleotide and click “Apply”. This will re-number the sequence starting from the defined location.

When using the “Descending” option from the Indexing order dropdown, enter the new position number of the first nucleotide and click “Apply”.

As shown below, the sequence was renumbered according to the defined position in the reverse orientation.
