Manually Load a Sequence

DNA and RNA sequences of different file formats can be uploaded into the BioDrive tool. BioDrive currently supports GenBank (.gb, .gbk), Fasta (.fasta, .fa, .txt), SnapGene (.dna), Gene Construction Kit (.gcc), DNASTAR Lasergene Seqbuilder (.seq), Serial Cloner/DNA Strider (.xdna), Vector NTI Archive (.ma4), Clone Manager (.cm5), and SCF Trace Format (.scf). Sequences can also be copied or pasted directly into BioDrive.

To manually load a sequence into BioDrive, first select the sequence type and the number of strands from the dropdown selection. This will be set to double-stranded DNA by default.

When the sequence type is set to RNA, it can be either single stranded or double stranded. All  'T’ bases in the sequence will be replaced with 'U’ bases.

A BioDrive Entry can be created in the following ways:

Method 1: Press “Choose File” in the “Import File” tab to open the file organizer window, select the sequence you want to upload, and press “Open” to import the file.

Method 2: Open the location of the sequence file, mouse over the sequence file, hold down the left mouse button, drag the file into the grey importing window, and release the mouse to drop the file.

Method 3: click the “Create Sequence” tab, select sequence type and the number of strands, enter the name of the sequence, select “Linear” or “Circular” from the Topology dropdown, and add the sequence by either entering it manually or copying/pasting; then press “CREATE”.
