After a sequence is loaded to the system, there are multiple ways to edit it as described below.
Edit by Manually Typing in a Sequence
After left-clicking the mouse at the desire position, a cursor will flash at the editing position. Pressing any key will open the “Insert Bases” window. After finishing typing in the sequence, press “Insert” to confirm the insertion. Base codes ('A', ‘C', ‘G’ and 'T’ only for DNA) in either upper or lower case are supported.
Edit by Copy and Paste
A fragment of a sequence can be copied with or without its annotation and pasted into any sequence tab in the experiment. After the target sequence is selected, press ACTIONS -> Copy to open the Copy Dialogue window. You will be asked to specify which strand to copy and to specify whether annotation should be copied. After the selections are made, press “Copy” to copy the sequence into the clipboard.
When the “Include annotations” box is checked, the annotation information will be copied with the sequence. Otherwise, no annotation will be copied.
Only features and primers within the selection will be copied. When they are partially within the selection, the feature and primer information will not be copied.
When the forward strand is selected, the selected sequence of the forward strand and annotation features on the forward strand are copied into the clipboard and available for further insertions.
When the reverse strand is selected, the selected sequence of the reverse strand and annotation features on the reverse strand are copied into the clipboard and available for further insertions. The orientation of both the copied sequence and the copied annotations is inverted (from 3'-5' to 5'-3'). The location of annotation features is changed to the forward strand.
When both strands are selected, the selected sequence of both strands and annotation features on both strands are copied into the clipboard and available for further insertions.
Click the sequence tab where the copied sequence should be inserted and place the mouse at the desired location, press ACTIONS -> Paste to insert the information in the clipboard at the cursor’s position.
Edit by Cut and/or Paste
If there is a region of the sequence you want to move from one location to another location, it can be done using Cut/Paste. After selecting the region that you want to move, press ACTIONS -> Cut to delete the selected region from the sequence and copy it to the clipboard. After moving the cursor to the insertion location, press ACTIONS -> Paste. All intact features will be pasted.
Edit by Deletion
After selecting the region of the sequence you want to delete, press ACTIONS -> Delete to delete the selected region from the sequence.
